Dear Christian Radio Station
With four children of my own, two married with young children and two in college, I have watched as the technology explosion has swept over our lives. Because my three grandchildren live a thousand miles away, I love the technology that brings us closer together. I really enjoy skyping with them and watching videos recorded earlier in the day. When my Mom and Dad don’t know how to operate a program I can sign onto their computer in South Carolina from my house in Pennsylvania and straighten out their problems instantly! Technology affords us some really great advantages.
But as a Children’s Pastor, Christian School Administrator, and seminar speaker I have come to know many families who do not look fondly on modern day technology. They have been victims of harassment, embarrassment, theft or cruel attacks. Some have suffered emotionally and financially at the hands of un controlled technology.
Over the last 5 years in addressing cyber issues I have found that many parents have little to no control over the technology in their homes. This provides the perfect breeding ground for serious trouble to occur. I have identified three ingredients that if mixed nearly always cause trouble.
Curious child plus a tool of power plus unmonitored places to meet produces the three eyed monster. This monster shows itself with Inappropriate material, Injury to individuals as well as Illegal Activities.. This monster has destroyed lives.
Fortunately, the three ingredients can be neutralized by involved caring parents, community and Christian leaders. Training children and young adults, respecting and understanding the power of technology together with monitoring activities and where students are congregating, the three eyed monster can be defeated!
I would like to bring this simple, straightforward message to your Christian Radio audience. If you are looking for a guest, I would love to bring my expertise on Cyber Safety to your audience. I am fine with small time slots and can answer some basic technical questions on safety as well as respond to news stories concerning Cyber Safety.
If you are interested in having me as a guest give me a call at this number: (484) 424-9555.
May God’s grace and peace be with you as you reach many for Him!
